"Every child deserves the right to an early education,
the Head Start, that they need
to get a strong start in life."

Shasta Head Start is a private, nonprofit corporation that was formed in 1965 to provide quality child care and social services to income-eligible children and their families. With the recent changes in Welfare Reform, it has never been more important for Head Start and it's supporters to succeed in assisting the families which utilize our services closer to self sufficiency. We serve those families in Shasta, Siskiyou and Trinity Counties of Northern California.

This agency has undergone several expansions and reorganizations over the years, and now employs over 200 people throughout the tri-county area! Shasta Head Start prides itself on its history of helping children and parents to succeed. In fact, more than 40% of Shasta Head Start staff members are former Head Start parents.

Since it's inception in 1965, Head Start as a whole, has served more than 15 million children and families. Head Start's focus on the whole child can have a major impact on a child's ability to get ahead and succeed in school.
